Held every 13 October, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction day celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of reining in the risks that they face. The "Community Disaster Response Team Training" implemented by Mauritius Red Cross Society and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Centre (NDRRMC) in Mauritius empowers communities and builds resilience against Climate Change. This project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP GEF Small Grants Programme. The shared video is about the simulation exercise that took place in Riviere Cocos, Rodrigues island after 3 days of intensive training for community leaders. The training is provided by the Mauritius Red Cross and NDRRMC in collaboration with the Special Mobile Force, the Mauritius Fire And Rescue Service, and several other partners. We are proud that this project is now replicated and has been extended nation-wide by the Government of Mauritius. #DRRday #BuildToLast #GEFSGPMauritius #UNDP #DisasterManagement #RiskReduction #RiskAwareness #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateResilience #SIDS #Mauritius #Rodrigues
